March 29, 2018

Discover Here:  An  Interview With Catherine Teil

Current job position:  She is the Chief Executive Officer of our 6 family-hotels (and our mother!!)

How long have been in the hotel business ?

45 years

What is your particular point ?

When I read it once, I can remember any phone number.

Do you have a favorite address?

Sola Restaurant, 12 Rue de l'Hôtel Colbert, 75005. I would say that my evening at Sola ranks as one of my best eating experiences ever. When people talk about the Japanese successful chef in Paris, you always hear about Sola.

What was your dream job as a child?

As a child, I wanted to be an interpreter.

What do you miss most about your job when you were involved in operations?

I miss my former guests that I do not see as much as before and I wish I would be more in touch with the hotel guests

What do you remember about your early years in the hotel business?

We had a guest, the daughter of a great American movie star who was staying at our hotel for 3 months. She had taken her goldfish from the US inside an aquarium with her. One day, we received 2 journalists from the Gault and Millau French guide. They got so amused by the goldfish that they even wrote about it in their article. Following that, the hotel did never empty!

If you would not live here anymore and you were just passing for one day in Paris. What would you do?

I would go to Musée du Louvre and Musée d'Orsay that as a Parisian I don't have time to explore !
